Granulator roll cutters are mainly used for laser cutting plastics. During the process of cutting plastics, wear and tear occurs, requiring the replacement of new tools. So, what factors affect the service life of granulator roll cutters?

Granulator Cutter Mainly used for laser cutting of plastics. During the cutting process, wear occurs, requiring replacement of new tools. So, what factors affect the service life of the granulator cutter?

  1. Influence of Cutting Clearance

The so-called cutting clearance is the gap between the moving knife and the fixed knife. Within a certain range, the larger the cutting clearance, the smaller the cutting force required; conversely, the larger the cutting force, the greater the tool wear; When the clearance is close to zero, the cutting force will become quite large, until the blade strength does not break; However, if the clearance is too large, the quality of the slices will be significantly affected. Therefore, the cutting clearance must be reasonably selected in production.

  2. Influence of Softened Water

Softened water is indispensable in the granulation process. It not only cools the casting belt of the conveying material, but also has a certain impact on the use of the granulator cutter. Softened water can promptly remove the heat generated during cutting, reduce the tool wear rate, and also play a certain lubricating role. Without demineralization, heat loss will be slower, and tool wear will accelerate. However, excessive softened water will hinder the operation and slicing of the tool, resulting in increased noise and cutting consumption. At the same time, softened water will also enter the mechanical transmission part. The purity of softened water also has a great impact on the tool. Solid impurities in softened water will quickly wear down the tool, so the role of softened water in the cutting process has both advantages and disadvantages, and it should be strictly controlled in actual production.

  3. Content of Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide is a matting agent in polyester production and an indispensable additive in chemical fiber production, but titanium dioxide has a significant impact on the wear of the granulator cutter. When the titanium dioxide content increases, the tool life decreases sharply; When the content of titanium dioxide is close to zero, the life of the tool can be very long. In normal BOPP production, the content of titanium dioxide is 10%. At this time, the life of ordinary carbon alloy steel tools is only 40 minutes. It can be seen that titanium dioxide powder has a great impact on the service life of the tool. Without affecting the quality of polyester products, the injection of titanium dioxide powder should be kept at the most reasonable injection amount.
